ha! i hope they run together... Sarah makes a great VP! :)
Show more of these pics, please!!
Any prediction of when he'll be seated in the Senate? Can't the Dems delay?
Brown's rock star status will inevitably fade after the November elections. He has restored a modicum of balance in the federal government and in that way he is a "savior" to the GOP. But after November, the GOP will have significantly more muscle in both chambers of the legislature and his position as the "41st senator" will be diminished as the Republicans will very likely have 45-46 seats in the Senate and probably 205-210 seats in the House. It's probably for the best since Brown is to the left of most of the GOP caucus, but he should savor this victory and make sure to pivot to the center somewhat after November so he's not quickly in jeopardy come Nov. 2012.
i'm not so sure , brown could very well be the NEW face of the GOP party ....
look let's be honest with ourselves , the more time that passes the more people who will be out of work or underemployed ... the republican bussiness moto's are not going to save the day here , the republican party will have to move somewhat to the left ... as more and more americans start to suffer , social programs will take on more importance and the whole "lets cut taxes" is going to ring hollow for those who don't have jobs ... furthermore as unemployment rises , people will begin to look back to FDR and ask why the government can't create more work ...
i can see a fututre where the republican party supports make work programs like in the great depression in order to get people off of unemployment pay which is being extened and extended ..
MA truns into a red state.
Morning Boston Globe had a map showing how each county voted......in red or blue .
Over 2/3's were colored red (including Cape Cod and Teddy's Barnstable county).
By population density, how MA turned red is even more dramatic.
Been trying to tell you all for months that she is not a serious candidate. Way to marginalize this guy by continuing to post these pictures, yummy as they are. Not that I mind.
weisenwriter is wooing the lesbian crowd with these photos
He can be seated after the AG certifies the vote. And since we know who the AG is, it wouldn't look good for her to waffle too long. They are expecting it to take 2 weeks.
isn't this site a phony business labeled site run by a rabid left wing operation?
masquerading as "business insider"??? to create impression it actually has some intelligence behind it?
back down in the drain boys
First the conservative citizens of America, which are a majority, will never adopt socialist job programs. Second the programs of FDR prolonged the depression for 10 years and if it wasn't for WW II and Britain and the other allies buying war supplies, the depression would have lasted even longer. Third the uncertainty of the Progressive/Liberal taxation policies is what's stiffling the economy. The prospect of having their buisness' having additional taxes to pay for the "Entitlements" proposed by the Socialist congress we presently have is what is preventing buisness owners from expanding/hiring people. So Marguis I suggest you look at History, proven economic polices that boost growth, and understand that conservatives first and formost believe in small government and that its the individual entrepreneurs that create jobs and wealth. And if Scott Brown moves toward the left he'll be voted out too. America has had enough of the progressive/Liberal destruction of American values and can do attitude. God bless America.
If the GOP supports make work programs, then its right flank will completely abandon it. However, I think there is a populist attack to be made that still falls in line with conservatism. You can see it with health care and the financial industries. In the case of health care, there is no real private market. GOP should attack the hell out of that line, even if it means smacking the insurance companies by saying they'd rather have Obamacare since it guarantees their monopolies and they won't have to compete against each other. That would be standing up for the private sector while also tapping into populist anger. It's also accurate.
Same with the financial industry. The GOP should rightly contend that new taxes on banks will only be passed to consumers. So what instead should be done is to remove the idea of "too big to fail" and adopt Henry's idea that an should an institution that is critical to the system edge towards insolvency, debt will be converted to equity and junior bondholders and stockholders get wiped out. Failing that, those institutions should be protected by the gov't, but only temporarily until they can be properly cut up and sold under the usual conservatorship regulations.
That may make some big business GOP donors unhappy, but it will be a good way to tap populist anger while staying true to conservative ideals. And being a conservative myself, I also happen to think it would be the best policy too.
I think the real loss to Sarah Palin is that Martha Coakley would make her look like a genius by comparison.
If Brown's doppleganger, Romney, already carried the state, why is this such a shocker?
Huh? Explain?
*sighs*
all right where to begin ...
-----"First the conservative citizens of America, which are a majority, will never adopt socialist job programs" ----
so back in the old days the population of the united states was made up of ultr liberals during the 1930 ? ( that's a fancy way of saying that i find it laughable that you would say never considering our nation has done this before )
----"Second the programs of FDR prolonged the depression for 10 years and if it wasn't for WW II and Britain and the other allies buying war supplies, the depression would have lasted even longer"----
they say history is written by the victors , most of our history tell us that these programs were a tremdous help , without them we might have ended up communist ..
----"Third the uncertainty of the Progressive/Liberal taxation policies is what's stiffling the economy."---
i hope your blantly lieing when you say that , because if not , then you know ZIP about what's happening now ... you don't think having hundreds of americans living paycheck to paycheck with almost zero savings had anything to do with our problems ? or house and gas prices that rose until we hit breaking point ? or deratives trades , or the repeal of the glass stregal act ... etc so on and so forth
------"The prospect of having their buisness' having additional taxes to pay for the "Entitlements" proposed by the Socialist congress we presently have is what is preventing buisness owners from expanding/hiring people'-----
i will grant that the prospect of new taxes , especially the healthcare ones are a fear for small bussiness , but from every small bussiness owner that i've heard , they aren't hiring because there's no one BUYING .....now that health care has gone , using your logic we should now see insane hiring ..
----"So Marguis I suggest you look at History, proven economic polices that boost growth, and understand that conservatives first and formost believe in small government and that its the individual entrepreneurs that create jobs and wealth'------\
i don't care too much for history , i don't think we will find too many answers in it to solve our current modern day problems , we can learn certain things from history , but todays events are simply too new to get much guidance from history
-----"And if Scott Brown moves toward the left he'll be voted out too. America has had enough of the progressive/Liberal destruction of American values and can do attitude. God bless America. "-----
i doubt that , the republicans will move toward the left , because they lost control of everything in the last election , the message is clear here , everyone needs to move to the center , republicans to the left , democrats to the right ...
as for progressives , i don't know who that group composes of , nor liberals ... i'm not even sure i know who conseratives are either ....i simply know americans , and our people are broken and those who aren't ,soon will be .
i really don't understand that first part about healthcare , and i don't actually care about healthcare so lets skip to the second part
in a world that wasn't highly leveraged your points would be very informative and have merit ..but we live in a SHAM world where everyone is already bankrupt but simply doesn't know it yet ...
your ideas make sense in the sham world , but in the reality in which i live , they don't cut it .
Haha! I just got it, you thought txchick57 is a lesbian ...
The biggest most volatile faction in Massachusetts, the Independents, went big for Obama in 2008
on the basis of getting a pragmatic change from scummy national Republicans. What they got was more
of the same scummy policy from Obama Democrats. So the Mass. Independents have turned on
Washington.
You mean the SOS not the AG
What a snide, silly, supercilious article. Charming, charismatic political power player Sarah Palin is the populist princess and potential President-in-waiting.
For those of you who believe Scott Brown's star will wane, you may be right. But I don't think so, because...
HE
CAME
FROM
30
POINTS
DOWN
AND
WON
TED
KENNEDY'S
SENATE
SEAT.
It would scarcely be more amazing if Sarah Palin won Pelosi's seat.
I would wait a while and see. Sarah Palin is indeed OUT. Brown did right, including working hard without complaint, not talking about Jeebus all the time, taking some liberal views etc. She did wrong.
However, the lasting quality of Brown's victory has to be seen in the context of numbers. Offending women with this no morning after pill stuff, taking on the gays, and being a Republican, a party for which, realistically, blacks and Hispanics have to be insane to vote. That means you're starting your base at well under 50% nationally, no matter how many women are Prairie Muffins (subservient wives of conservative white men), how many gays are Log Cabins, how many blacks and Hispanics are Uncle Toms and Tio Tomases.
This is an ongoing story for Brown that has just begun.
The GOP certainly NEEDS a new face...that Palin crap is getting old. Seriously....
HELP IS ON THE WAY.
From Glenn Beck!
Beck humorously, but harshly, slammed Scott Brown, Republican winner of the race for Ted Kennedy's old Senate seat in Massachusetts, for proclaiming on national television, during his victory speech, that his two daughters were "available."
Beck launched into a long rant about how Brown had just put his daughters up for grabs on a "meat market" and how shocked he was that anyone could say something like that on national television. Then came that moment that differentiates Beck on the radio from Beck on the TV: he started comparing Brown to Gary Condit.
"I want a chastity belt on this man. I want his every move watched in Washington. I don't trust this guy. This one could end with a dead intern. I'm just saying. It could end with a dead intern."
Glenn has quite the talent for fun doesn't he.
Glenn Beck is the opposite side of the retarded Keith Olberman coin.
Too back they don't engage in a shotgut duel at three paces.
Beck is absolutely batshit and he will do anything to get ratings. If anyone were to have intern problems, I would think it would be Beck.
love your sarcasm!
I can't think of a parallel easily for the my daughters are available comment--uh one of them is, he "amended"--
Slight three celebration martini problem here?
I'm old enough to have been sentient when on Kennedy victory night in 1960 VP candidate Henry Cabot Lodge got caught for a statement on Nixon's loss and wash bar'ee able to shay a complete shentensh on TV. I'd love to see that clip again.
We'll take the "my daughters are available" as a blip.
Did I miss something here? How is this article about the new Sarah Palin? In fact, it's not about her at all (one sentence, calling her a loser - for what I'm not sure)....In fact, this article doesn't say much about anything. What a joke! I guess putting Palin's name in the headline was a way to attract viewers, same lame story - Hey Business Insider, your jounalism sucks, and your bias is showing.
And by the way, what does that picture have to do with anything, other than a transparent attempt to discredit him?
Didn't we already talk about this silly behavior in the Breitbart story?
I see. Your day will be spoiled by the reflection that Brown is more fun, more intelligent, better looking etc. than Sarah Palin and never quit a job yet nor missed a speech he was scheduled for? and that people are already saying "Palin, she is like so 2009"?
Happens.
Perhaps most of us don't care whether that spoils yer day or not.
DISCREDIT him?
not envy him? I thought that was pretty creditable,
though I agree with Jon Stewart that he might have waxed some of that body hair first.
I wasn't any pinup in college, were you?
It's just proof that every youthful indiscretion is impossible to disavow later in life, especially in this media driven age.
It sucks that the only people deemed "dignified" enough to hold public office these days are boring midwestern or southern Christians with very little life experience and a lot of xenophobia...but no saucy internet pics. Boo.
When Obama was doing things to hurt the country, Massachusetts was the first deep blue state to see the opportunity to send him a message, despite their natural leanings.
When Bush was hurting the country, a few red states saw fit to send him a message in their senatorial voting, like Montana and Louisiana, so this is a healthy sign of democracy.
However, I think the blue states as a whole are much more ideologically flexible. This trend can only continue if the Republican party doesn't try to expunge all moderates. Brown's rock star status will fade when the old guard has to realize that he still has to represent his more liberal constituents to keep his seat.
Dana, it's about TWO BIMBO's...PALIN & BROWN, two lightweights...get it?
The name Palin has entered pop culture...google it. To be Palinesque is to be stupid, incurious, or verbally challenged. People use the word Palinesque all the time (for a year now!) it is an adjective, it doesn't have to be an article about Sarah Palin. It can be about the ignorance and stupidity she has come to represent.
Palin latest hypocrisy is endorsing Mr. Centerfold in the MASS race but chastizing her almost son-in-law for doing PORN. The photos of Brown and Levi are THE SAME, they show just as much. Two nekked men covering their genitals.
Obviously you dems. have never owned a business. We don't need more government jobs, we need to help businesses create and keep more jobs. That is why dems are agains businessses, because they don't understand the basic principle that to create and sustain jobs, companies actually have to make money.
Thank god, those yankees are getting some sense, and are voting Republican!
You are completely wrong in your assesment of the Scott Brown victory. Romney and all the country club Republican's like David Frum and his ilk are scared shitless of politicians like Palin and Brown. They just don't like simple folk. What will become of this is a morphing of the so called Tea Party and the Palin/Brown Republican's...If Obama keeps looking like Jimmy Carter for the next few years I'm afraid your all looking at a Palin/Brown 2012 ticket that will be as big if not bigger than Ronald Reagan's 1980 victory. Don't say I didn't warn you!!!
I have to say that although I'm not sure Palin is ready to lead the country, I do love the effect she has on the left in this country. They just flip out when she appears... it is endlessly entertaining. Watching Katie Couric cry nightly on the news would be a bonus too.
Very well put!
Scott Brown showed his real colors when he recently endorsed McCain’s bill—S.3081 that if passed, would allow Government to forever detain U.S. Citizens On Mere Suspicion? See below:
Are You Scheduled For Government Interrogation If Senate bill 3081 Is Passed?
On March 4, 2010, Sen. John McCain introduced S.3081, The “Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010.”
Sen. McCain’s S.3081 would eliminate several Constitutional protections allowing Government to arbitrarily pick up Americans on mere suspicion—with no probable cause. Your political opinions and statements made against U.S. Government could be used by Authorities to deem you a “hostile” “Enemy Belligerent” to cause your arrest and indefinite detention. S.3081 is so broadly written innocent anti-war protesters and Tea Party Groups might be arrested and detained just for attending demonstrations; Government can charge that attending demonstrations "materially supported hostilities."
Considering how often Sarah Palin defends Free Speech, one can’t help wonder why Palin is helping McCain’s reelection to the U.S. Senate after he introduced possibly the most anti-Free Speech Bill in Modern U.S. History. Perhaps Palin or her Tea Party supporters haven’t considered McCain’s legislation might be used by a corrupt government administration to crush them. Tea Parties might question Palin whether she supports Sen. McCain’s bill the “Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010.” (S.3081)
Under S.3081, an “individual” need only be Suspected by Government of “suspicious activity” or “supporting hostilities” to be dragged off and held indefinitely in Military Custody. Government will have the power to detain and interrogate any individual without probable cause. Government need only allege an individual kept in detention, is an Unprivileged Enemy Belligerent suspected of; having engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners; or has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States; its coalition partners; or U.S. civilians. How could one prove to Government they did not purposely do something? “Materially Supporting Hostilities” against the United States could include any person or group that spoke out or demonstrated disapproval against an agency of U.S. Government. It is foreseeable many Americans might go underground to Resist Government Tyranny. Definition for Unprivileged Enemy Belligerent: (Anyone Subject to a Military Commission)
At least under the Patriot Act, law enforcement generally needed probable cause to detain a person indefinitely. Passage of S.3081 will permit government to use “mere suspicion” to curtail an individual’s Constitutional Protections against unlawful arrest, detention and interrogation without benefit of legal counsel and trial. According to S.3081 Government is not required to provide detained individuals U.S. Miranda Warnings or even an attorney.
S.3081 if passed will frighten Americans from speaking out. S.3081 is so broadly written, it appears any “individual” who writes on the Internet or verbally express an opinion against or an entity of U.S. Government or its coalition partners might be detained on the basis he or she is an “unprivileged enemy belligerent”, “supporting hostilities against U.S. Government.” The “supporting hostilities” provisions in S.3081 are so broad Government could use “suspicion” to detain U.S. corporate executives on the premise their corporations “supported hostilities” by providing goods or services to a nation engaged in hostilities against the United States.
How might Americans respond should Government use this bill to take away their loved ones, family members and friends on mere suspicion? It is foreseeable McCain’s bill will drive lawful political activists underground, perhaps creating the domestic terrorists McCain said we needed to be protected from.
McCain’s bill mentions “non-violent acts" supporting terrorism in the U.S. and or emanating from America against a Coalition Partner. Non-violent terrorist acts" are covered in the Patriot Act to prosecute Persons that support “coercion to influence a government or intimidation to affect a civilian population.” However, U.S. activists and individuals under S.3081 would be much more vulnerable to prosecution, if (charged with suspicion) of “intentionally providing support to an Act of Terrorism”, for example American activists can’t control what other activists might do illegally—they network with domestically and overseas. Under the Patriot Act, law enforcement generally needs probable cause to detain or prosecute someone. But under S.3081, law enforcement and the military can too easily use (hearsay or informants) to allege “suspicious activity” to detain an individual. It is problematic under S.3081 that detained individuals in the U.S. not involved in terrorism or hostile activities, not given Miranda Warnings or allowed legal counsel will be prosecuted for ordinary crimes because of their alleged admissions while in military custody.
Notably, McCain’s S.3081 mandates (merging) Federal, State and Local Police and subsequently the U.S. Military to detain and hold Individuals in the U.S., even without probable cause. Interestingly a Rand Report prepared for the Army, recently made public, appears to suggest that U.S. Government develop a Local, State and Federal U.S. "National Police Stabilization Force merging State law enforcement with the Feds. What could happen to State Rights and what Laws and Jurisdiction would be used to prosecute state Citizens arrested by a National Police Stabilization Force? A National Police Force could potentially be sent by the President into any State with the approval of its governor, against the wishes of its Citizens? To clarify the Rand Corporation report visit:
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=122533
Historically it is foreseeable under S.3081 that "erroneous informant information" could be used to detain innocent Individuals. Other countries have used lying informants to imprison; even execute political opposition.
Under S.3081 government may use an individual’s phone call and email information to allege without probable cause “suspicious or hostile activity against a U.S. civilian population or the United States to detain Americans.”
(Make Your Own Determination If The Analysis Herein Is Correct) See McCain’s 12-page Senate bill S.3081 at:
assets.theatlantic.com/static/mt/assets/politics/ARM10090.pdf
FYI: below is enclosed a copy of “Hitler’s Discriminatory Decrees signed February 28, 1933.” Although the Nazi Decrees are written differently than S.3081, the McCain bill could bring America to the same place crushing free speech and personal liberty. Note how the Nazi Government in Section (1) and (4), similar to U.S. S.3081, suspend personal liberty— shutdown Free Speech to intimidate Citizens speaking out against Government:
See Section 1
“Sections 114, 115, 117, 118, 123, 124, and 153 of the Constitution of the German Reich are suspended until further notice. Thus, restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press, on the right of assembly and the right of association, and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications, and warrants for house-searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.”
Similar to McCain’s S. 3081, but using different wording the Nazi Government in Section (4) see below, suspended Constitutional rights, ordered the arrest of Citizens for any ACT that might incite or provoke disobedience against state authorities. McCain’s S.3081 instead mentions detaining and prosecuting Individuals for “supporting hostilities” against U.S. Government. S.3081 is so broadly written any person or group attending a protest could be arrested without provable cause and detained if government charged a protest-supported hostilities.
See Section 4
Whoever provokes, or appeals for or incites to the disobedience of the orders given out by the supreme state authorities or the authorities subject to then for the execution of this decree, or the orders given by the Reich Government according to Section 2, is punishable—insofar as the deed, is not covered by the decree with more severe punishment and with imprisonment of not less that one month, or with a fine from 150 up to 15,000 Reichsmarks.
DECREE OF THE REICH PRESIDENT FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE PEOPLE AND STATE
Note: Based on translations by State Department, National Socialism, 1942 PP. 215-17, and Pollak, J.K., and Heneman, H.J., The Hitler Decrees, (1934), pp. 10-11.7
In virtue of Section 48 (2) of the German Constitution, the following is decreed as a defensive measure against Communist acts of Violence, endangering the state:
Section 1
Sections 114, 115, 117, 118, 123, 124, and 153 of the Constitution of the German Reich are suspended until further notice. Thus, restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press, on the right of assembly and the right of association, and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications, and warrants for house-searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.
Section 2
If in a state the measures necessary for the restoration of public security and order are not taken, the Reich Government may temporarily take over the powers of the highest state authority.
